The Doors of Perception are a 4-piece Tribute Band to the ethereal and experimental classic rock band, The Doors.  This tribute band will bring you right back to the psychedelic era with the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a real Doors show. The name, The Doors of Perception, taken from the famous book by Aldous Huxley was Jim Morrison's original name for his band before it was shortened to The Doors.

Based in Tampa, Florida, the DOP were formed in 2012 by singer and lifelong Doors fan, Douglas Austin. They have performed for a variety of venues in Florida, from local bars to large festivals. With an authentic recreation of The Doors' live show, including everything from the wardrobe and theatrics to the keyboard bass, the DOP provide an excellent and nostalgic show for any classic rock fan.

In 2016, the DOP will be expanding to out-of-state gigs and embarking on their first tour, playing several shows in the Eastern US. Dates are available on the events page and many more are to be announced. Check back or follow us on Facebook to stay up to date and catch us in your area! Also has a new special guest

Glenn Harris as John Densmore

ddddd

Glenn joined the The Doors of Perception in August of 2013 and has never looked back!  He enjoys playing the Rock n’ Roll of that era and especially emulating the talents of John Densmore.   Glenn has played with bands that have opened for the Marshall Tucker Band, and performed at Graceland for two consecutive summers.  Professional influences have been:  Buddy Rich, Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Ian Paice (Deep Purple), John Densmore (The Doors) and Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), to mention a few.

I remember when I was very young, riding around in a car with my family and a friend of my sister's and the song "Light My Fire" came on the AM radio station. Also, it was the short version. That was the first time I heard The Doors. As I got older, playing in bands in Detroit then moved to Tampa, Florida and then later formed The Doors of Perception. I'm trying to keep the memory of Jim Morrison and The Doors alive for as long as I can, until the end.
